Salary: £42,500 per annum
Location: Hybrid (remote with access to London Office)

The role:
As a Consultant, you will contribute across Baxendale’s core areas of work. Projects often span multiple disciplines, you will be expected to understand how different elements connect, tailoring your approach to the context and needs of each client.
Your work may include:
Service and financial modelling to inform service redesign, investment decisions and commissioning approaches
Supporting organisation-wide transformation programmes, including governance, programme management, service design, benefits realisation and delivery discipline
Contributing to commercial growth strategies, including new service development, market entry and contract expansion
Strategic estates and infrastructure work that supports new models of care, efficient utilisation, and improved staff and patient experience
Organisational and partnership development, including operating models, governance structures and ways of working
Building robust business cases and financial models to support strategic and investment decisions
Bid writing to support healthcare providers to develop clear, credible and competitive bids that secure NHS funded contracts
Key duties and responsibilities:
As a Consultant, you will be expected to:
Take ownership of defined workstreams or small projects, managing delivery from planning to completion with support
Apply structured thinking to complex problems, producing evidence-based outputs that support decision-making
Identify risks, interdependencies and opportunities, escalating issues early and proposing practical solutions
Design and produce high-quality reports and client-ready presentations that are clear, concise and visually engaging
Use digital tools and AI effectively to improve efficiency, quality and consistency of outputs, reducing avoidable manual effort
Design and facilitate client workshops, with support as required
Build strong working relationships with client peers, communicating confidently and professionally in writing and verbally
Contribute to integrated solutions by connecting insights across different disciplines
Understand how productivity, efficiency and capacity considerations affect service delivery, and reflect this in analysis, recommendations and client conversations
Promote teamwork, collaboration and knowledge-sharing across Baxendale

Person specification:
Experience and background
· Typically 2–4 years’ experience in a junior consultant, analyst or equivalent role with focus on healthcare, or relevant experience working within a healthcare organisation with a desire to move into consultancy
· Experience of working in client-facing roles (internal or external) on small projects or defined workstreams within larger programmes
· Exposure to one or more of the following within a healthcare context: strategy, estates, bids, partnership structures, investment, programme management, productivity and quality improvement
Skills and attributes
Strong analytical skills and the ability to structure and communicate complex information clearly
Confident using digital tools and AI to work efficiently
Knowledge of healthcare systems and how different elements connect
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to build rapport quickly
Demonstrates risk awareness and attention to detail
Comfortable working with ambiguity and adapting your approach to different contexts
