PWR is looking for a motivated and committed Designer to create new or revised product designs, or processes that capture customer (internal and external) criteria within production capabilities
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £28,000 to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience

Our client’s newly established facility at Rugby is expanding rapidly and they are seeking motivated and committed people to join their team. As they develop and grow their manufacturing and production facility, PWR are seeking a Designer to create new or revised product designs, or processes that capture customer (internal and external) criteria and are appropriate for manufacture within PWR’s production capabilities.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Use high level 2D & 3D design skills – AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Reverse engineer solutions to specific problems from customer supplied geometry and models
- Perform low level simulation tasks (using the simulation tools integrated in SolidWorks)
- Ensure designs released are fit-for-purpose, conform to PWR manufacturing capability, and are appropriately detailed for the specific project
- Participate in discussions with departments regarding programming & manufacturing process to ensure designs can be produced efficiently
- Negotiate with external suppliers and create documentation to procure and purchase for manufacturing
- Create detailed bills of materials (BOMs) for manufactured components
- Maintain accurate MRP and ERP systems
- Develop project plans to prioritise work and manage workflows
- Create, implement, and maintain workplace systems and work instructions in accordance with ISO9001 protocols.
Person specification:
- Previous practical full time experience in a similar role
- Dedication, drive and passion for the industry
- High attention to detail
- Ability to identify and apply relevant field knowledge, and engineering principles to ensure application appropriate design
- High level problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Self-motivated and able to monitor personal workload
- Ability to effectively prioritise customer requirements
- High level skills in AutoCad and SolidWorks
- Solid written & verbal communication skills.
Desirable competencies:
- Engineering or Industrial Design diploma or equivalent viewed favourably
- Hands-on and practical approach.
